Reverend Daniel Annan is a Ghanaian preacher

Ghanaian preacher Reverend Daniel Annan has opened up about the emotional struggles that come with pastoral work, describing it as one of the loneliest professions in the world.

Speaking in an interview on Joy Prime on November 4, 2025, Rev Annan shared that he only came to understand the depth of loneliness associated with ministry after becoming a pastor himself.

“When I became a pastor, that’s when I realised that one of the loneliest jobs is to be a pastor. Pastors are always lonely,” he said.

He continued, “People always come to you for solutions. How many times do people ask their pastors, How are you?” he said.

He explained that while pastors are expected to support and counsel others, very few people are concerned about their well-being.

“Genuinely, you can work as a pastor, but you will not get people asking about your well-being. That’s why pastors have problems with depression, high blood pressure, ulcers, and other related illnesses.

“It’s a lonely journey. Anybody who comes around you is about what they want, except a few,” he added.
