The Ghana Premier League clash between Basake Holy Stars and Bechem United took an unexpected twist as the latter failed to show up at the Ampain Sports Arena on Thursday.

Bechem’s troubles began on Wednesday when their team bus broke down, leaving the players and officials stranded, GHANAsoccernet.com understands.

Despite concerted efforts to repair the vehicle, all attempts proved futile.

The festive season further compounded the situation, as the team struggled to secure an alternative mode of transportation due to the unavailability of buses.

Understanding the gravity of their predicament, Bechem promptly informed the Ghana Football Association of the situation.

In a bid to justify their genuine difficulties, the team provided receipts for their hotel reservations, affirming their readiness to honour the fixture under normal circumstances.

They appealed for a postponement, hoping for leniency.

However, the GFA stood firm, insisting that the match must proceed as scheduled.

Holy Stars and match officials, adhering to the regulations, showed up at the Ampain Sports Arena, awaiting the arrival of their opponents.

With the Hunters forfeiting the matchday 15 fixture, the Ghana Premier League regulations stipulate that Holy Stars will be awarded three points and three goals.
