Ghanaian broadcast journalist Bridget Otoo has expressed dissatisfaction with the Minister of Finance Amin Adam’s claim that the Domestic Debt Exchange Program (DDEP) has saved Ghana $12 billion.

In a post on X on October 25, 2024, the outspoken journalist while speaking on this development, criticised President Akufo-Addo’s administration, labelling them as liars and thieves.

According to Bridget Otoo, the government has robbed Ghanaians of their savings and investments, arguing that the finance minister’s comments are misleading.

“You take money from people’s savings and investments and call it “saving” I’m sure the honest thing to say is “government stole 12bn” from its citizens,” she stated.

On October 23, 2024, during a panel discussion at the 2024 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group, Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam claimed that the successful implementation of the DDEP has saved Ghana $12 billion.

Meanwhile, Ghanaian-born American comedian and actor Michael Blackson is still brooding over his Eurobond investment, which isn’t looking promising.

In a series of social media posts recently, Blackson expressed frustration, stating that the government has set him back financially.

He also disclosed his intention to sue the Ministry of Finance over his ‘locked-up’ investments.
