Entertainment industry personality George Quaye has offered some advise to musicians in the country regarding the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs).

In a discussion on Hitz FM, shared on X on March 25, 2025, George Quaye stated that musicians interested in joining the award scheme should familiarise themselves with the procedures involved before filing for nominations.

He emphasised that musicians who go on radio to express ignorance about the nomination process should be ashamed of themselves.

“If I were a musician, I would feel very ashamed to sit on the radio and say I don’t know how to submit forms for the TGMAs. Should I come to your house to show you how to do it? The scheme has been here for 25 years, if you have any interest, you do it yourself,” he said.

George Quaye also advised musicians who lack knowledge on how to file for nominations to hire professionals to do it on their behalf.

He added that artistes who are unwilling to put in the effort to file for nominations should refrain from calling themselves musicians.

“If you can’t do it yourself, get somebody to do it for you. But to sit on social media and say you don’t know how, it’s shameful. At worst, drive to CharterHouse; it’s not in the south of France. There are many people around who can help you.

“It only tells me clearly that you are not interested. If you want to be part of the scheme but can’t put in the work, don’t even call yourself a musician,” he added.
