Sports journalist with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), Phil Parry, has said that West Ham United struggled in the absence of the Ghanaian forward Mohammed Kudus.

He explained that Kudus is a creative player whose prowess helps the team when attacking, with his dribbling also easing pressure on the defence.

The BBC football reporter indicated that the Black Stars attacker’s absence from the team was a heavy blow to West Ham, who recorded inconsistent results.

“He’s a very creative player who can cause problems, and when you miss players like that, it can cause problems. It puts more pressure on and allows the opposition to try and shut down the options easier,” he said while speaking on BBC.

Kudus was suspended for five games after he was shown a red card for misconduct during their match against Tottenham Hotspur.

During this period, the Hammers had mixed results, which raised concerns from football pundits and fans.

Kudus marked his return in West Ham’s 3-1 defeat to Leicester City on December 3, 2024.
