Samuel Basintale Amadu has been confirmed and sworn in as the Comptroller-General of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) following his appointment by President John Dramani Mahama in March 2025.
The confirmation was announced on the official X page of the Ghana Immigration Service on Tuesday, February 24, 2026.

“The Ghana Immigration Service congratulates you, Mr Samuel Basintale Amadu, on your confirmation and swearing-in as Comptroller-General,” the post stated.
Here is a brief profile of him
Amadu is a senior immigration official with over 30 years of service in the Ghana Immigration Service. His experience spans immigration enforcement, border security, intelligence operations, regulatory compliance and international relations.
Throughout his career, he has held several high-profile positions within the Service, where he has been involved in policy implementation and operational management in Ghana’s immigration sector.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Psychology with Philosophy from the University of Ghana, Legon, and a Master of Arts (MA) degree in International Affairs from the Legon Centre for International Affairs and Diplomacy (LECIAD).
