The Club Licensing Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) have declared five stadiums unfit to host official matches after a thorough inspection of the facilities, ghanasoccernet.com reports.

The home ground of Asante Kotoko, the Baba Yara Stadium, and the Legon Sports Stadium used by Accra Hearts of Oak were deemed unsuitable by the committee.

Other venues affected include the Golden City Park used by Berekum Chelsea, Basake Holy Stars’ AAK Ampian Stadium in Nzema, and Young Apostles’ Wenchi Sports Stadium.

Reports indicate that officials from the affected clubs have been informed of the decision as they search for alternative venues.

It was noted that the GFA Club Licensing Committee raised concerns about the quality of the pitches and various safety zones.

The affected clubs are required to either find an alternative match venue or fix the problems to meet the required standards before the resumption of the Ghana Premier League on March 7, 2025.

It will be recalled that, following the demise of staunch Kotoko fan Francis Yaw Frimpong, well-known as Pooley, strict protocols are being implemented by the GFA to safeguard lives.

President of the GFA, Kurt Okraku, vowed to ensure that all match venues were in line with the enhanced safety protocols to prevent such misfortunes in the future.
