Australians are expected to face disruptions at major airports as hundreds of Qantas ground crew have walked off the job over calls for improved pay, job security and safety.
The 24-hour industrial action begins on Wednesday at airports in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide.
QantasLink regional flights and freight operations are expected to be disrupted.
However, domestic or international passenger services won’t be affected.
‘We are aware of planned industrial action by some of our freight and regional workgroups in Sydney and we have contingency plans in place,’ a Qantas spokesman told Daily Mail.
‘Importantly there will be no disruption to our customers.
“We remain committed to reaching agreements with our employees that deliver substantial pay increases and reflect the priorities they have told us are important to them.’
More to come.
