An Aussie has shared a sneaky hack that he used to avoid paying exorbitant prices for parking at Melbourne Airport.

Taylar Holliday was sitting in his green SUV, waiting to pick up his sister, when a security guard urged him to move on after exceeding the one-minute time limit.

‘The guard was watching me before coming up and asking if I was ok because you’re not allowed to park there for more than a minute,’ he told Daily Mail.

‘I was just playing a joke.’

The fitness and lifestyle content creator then revealed in a TikTok that he pretended his car had broken down, allowing him to stay an hour, which would normally cost $34.

He told the security guard there was a problem with his ‘combobulator’ and ‘denominator’ – made-up parts inspired by an internet meme.

‘If you’re ever waiting at an airport and they keep telling you to move, use this trick,’ Mr Holliday said before showing the conversation with the guard.

‘The combobulator is cooked bro and it can’t move anywhere.

‘Do you know much about cars?’

He then explained the issue to the guard who looked lost and confused.

‘The combobulator connects to the demominator and then it makes it go,’ Mr Holliday said, while pointing to random parts of his open bonnet.

The guard nodded and allowed him to attempt to fix the car for about an hour.

Daily Mail has contacted Melbourne Airport for comment.

On its website, Melbourne Airport advises customers to utilise the free 60-minute wait zone on Mercer Drive, just off the Tullamarine Freeway.

The Terminal Carparks offer the first 15 minutes free for drive-up customers to help with luggage.

Other alternatives include pick-up zones across its terminals, which operate under a strict one-minute standing time limit, the Value Car Park, which costs $17 per day, and terminal car parks, which cost $34 for stays of between one and two hours.

Many Aussies found the situation hilarious and clever.

‘That’s actually so smart, I can’t lie,’ one said.

‘Whatever you said it connects to made me laugh,’ a second said.

‘New hack unlocked, definitely going to try it tomorrow when I’m picking up my mate,’ another said.

‘You think that car issue is bad, wait till the waternator fails,’ a fourth said.
