The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has approved a planned shutdown of the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant for scheduled maintenance from August 16 to August 30, 2025.

According to the Ministry, the Ghana National Gas Company Ltd. (Ghana Gas) will suspend gas supply during the two-week period to facilitate critical inspections, repairs, and upgrades aimed at improving the plant’s operational efficiency and ensuring its long-term safety and reliability.

In a statement released on August 11, 2025, as sighted by GhanaWeb Business, the ministry assured the public that contingency measures have been put in place in collaboration with key power sector stakeholders to minimise any potential disruption to electricity supply.

These measures include deploying alternative fuel sources to maintain stable and uninterrupted power nationwide.

“The Ministry reaffirms its unwavering commitment to maintaining reliable power supply at all times,” the spokesperson detailed.

He added that the public will receive regular updates on the progress of the maintenance activities.

The Atuabo Gas Processing Plant, located in the Western Region, plays a crucial role in Ghana’s energy infrastructure, processing natural gas for domestic power generation and industrial use.
