Asante Kotoko management have held a crunch meeting with the club’s players and technical team following the club’s disappointing end to the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.
The meeting, which took place on May 25, 2026, comes just days after Kotoko’s shocking 2-1 home defeat to Swedru All Blacks FC at the Baba Yara Stadium — a result that sparked anger among sections of supporters and confirmed an eighth-place finish for the Porcupine Warriors.
Reports after the match claimed some agitated fans waited outside the stadium for the players, forcing the team to reportedly abandon their official bus and leave the venue in an ambulance for safety reasons.
In an official club statement released on Monday, Kotoko confirmed that discussions during the meeting focused on the team’s poor performance throughout the season as well as allegations of attempted bribery involving some players before the final Ghana Premier League fixture.
The club disclosed that management has already commenced a thorough investigation into the matter and remains committed to uncovering the full facts behind the allegations.
Kotoko also commended defender Patrick Asiedu for what the club described as professionalism, integrity and commitment after reportedly bringing the allegations to the attention of management.
“Asante Kotoko treats issues of this nature with the utmost seriousness and, as such, any individual found culpable following the investigation will face the appropriate disciplinary sanctions,” part of the statement read.
The statement further stressed the club’s commitment to maintaining professionalism, accountability and integrity despite the difficult circumstances surrounding the end of the season.
Kotoko are now expected to begin a major rebuilding process ahead of the 2026/27 campaign following a disappointing season that fell far below expectations for the Ghanaian giants.
