Captain of Ghana’s national armwrestling team, Edward Yamoah Asamoah, has praised the “Golden Arms” following their commanding performance at the 2026 African Armwrestling Championship in Accra.

The Ghana Immigration Service Inspector commended his teammates for their dedication and teamwork, noting that their preparation was key to securing the continental title.

“We really prepared and we deserve to be African champions,” Asamoah said. “I hail my colleagues and say well done to every member of Team Ghana.”

Team Ghana finished top of the medal table with an impressive haul of 168 medals, underlining their dominance at the competition. The latest success also pushes the team’s all-time medal tally beyond the 400 mark, further cementing their status as a powerhouse in African armwrestling.

The championship, hosted in Accra, saw Ghana’s athletes deliver consistently strong performances across multiple weight categories, thrilling home fans with their resilience and skill.

Following their triumph, the team is already setting sights on future competitions, with preparations expected to begin for the next African Games scheduled to be held in Egypt next year.

The victory marks another milestone for Ghana’s armwrestling team as they continue to raise the country’s profile on the continental stage.
