Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta has reportedly identified French midfielder Lucien Agoume as the replacement for Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey.
With just six months left on his contract, Arsenal have yet to begin negotiations with Thomas Partey on the extension of his deal.
According to reports, Arsenal are seeking to move on from Thomas Partey and have offered the 30-year-old Ghanaian no new deal.
Lucien Agoume, who plays for Spanish side Sevilla, is the latest to be linked with the club, with Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta said to be a huge fan of the 22-year-old.
A report by Transfersdotcom indicates that Mikel Arteta sees similarities between Thomas Partey and Agoume and has sanctioned a move for him.
Commenting on Partey’s future after Arsenal’s 5-1 win over Bolton Wanderers in November, Mikel Arteta said the club will discuss the issue at a time they feel is right.
“We will have the right time to discuss the situation. He is showing consistency at the highest level, again because his availability and the way that he feels physically is allowing him to do that, and I am very pleased with that.”
Thomas Partey has been impressive for Arsenal this season, scoring two goals so far.
He was involved in their 3-2 win over Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, December 18, 2024.
