Legendary Ghanaian footballer Charles Taylor has delivered a sharp critique of Otto Addo’s request for experienced backroom staff, questioning the coach’s own qualifications. This comes as the Ghana Football Association (GFA) works through a crucial phase in the Black Stars’ resurgence.

Speaking on Angel TV, Taylor asserted that Otto Addo’s inexperience cost the Black Stars their place in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and argued that he has no right to demand experienced backroom staff.

“It’s puzzling that they are searching for an assistant coach when the head coach is already in place. The reason, apparently, is that the head coach lacks experience. But how can someone without experience effectively lead a team of seasoned players? It’s unrealistic to expect success under these circumstances,” he said.

The former Asante Kotoko striker suggested that the best solution would be for Addo to step down and allow Ghana to bring in the experienced leadership he demands.

Taylor also urged the GFA to prioritize sound decision-making in their efforts to reform Ghanaian football.

“The head coach should consider stepping down, allowing us to bring in more experienced professionals who can truly elevate Ghanaian football. We need to be honest with ourselves: if we want Ghanaian football to thrive, we must make the right decisions,” Taylor stated.
