Antoine Semenyo has made history after being named the Premier League Player of the Month for February 2026, becoming only the third Ghanaian to win the prestigious award.

The Manchester City forward earned the honour following an impressive run of form after joining the club in a £64 million move from AFC Bournemouth during the January transfer window.

Semenyo’s achievement places him among an elite group of Ghanaian footballers who have won the monthly award. The 26-year-old joins former Leeds United striker Tony Yeboah, who won it twice in 1995, and Andre Ayew, who claimed the prize with Swansea City in August 2015.

The award also ends an 11-year wait for a Ghanaian player to be recognised as the league’s best performer in a single month.

Semenyo enjoyed a productive February, scoring three goals and providing one assist in five appearances. His strikes against Tottenham Hotspur, Fulham FC and Leeds United helped City maintain an unbeaten run.

Reacting to the achievement, Semenyo expressed pride in joining the list of Ghanaian winners but stressed that his focus remains on helping City finish the season strongly.
