Black Stars forward, Antoine Semenyo has spoken candidly about his experience of racial abuse during his side’s opening Premier League fixture at Anfield back in August 2025.
Semenyo was subjected to racist abuse from a supporter during the 29th minute of Bournemouth’s clash with Liverpool on the opening weekend of the season.
Despite the distressing episode, Semenyo went on to score twice for Bournemouth in their 4-2 defeat.
In a new video shared by the club, Semenyo sat down for an honest conversation with a local boy named Mylo, who has been suffering from racial abuse in school.

“With me experiencing it, it’s like demoralising. You start questioning yourself, start questioning your character, like, what’s wrong with my skin color? I shouldn’t need to question that, I was made like this. God made me like this. So I shouldn’t need to question myself because of someone’s actions,” Semenyo said.
The 25-year-old admitted that while he tried to stay strong, the episode left a deep emotional impact.
“I think I’m a strong individual, so when things like this happen, I always try to move on, but with the Liverpool incident, it definitely touched a nerve. I felt proper emotional about it. I was nearly at breaking point to be honest, but I’m happy I conducted myself the right way and not done anything, just reported it to the Premier League,” he continued.
Speaking about how he deals with racism when he faces it, Semenyo urged others not to stay silent.
“I feel like also you need to have a voice. You need to tell someone about it, hundred percent, and something needs to be done. Like I know it can be very, very difficult, but you’ve got this.”
