Semenyo slid home at the stroke of half time to score the winner for City

Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo has praised his Manchester City teammates after a resolute display at Elland Road against Leeds United earned the title-chasers an important victory.

Semenyo slid home at the stroke of half time to score the winner for City, his fourth in seven Premier League games for the Etihad club since his winter transfer window move.

The red-hot forward also increased his goal tally in the Premier League this campaign to 14, but it is the ‘attention to detail’ at City that has helped him settle easily.

“Yeah I’ve definitely seen [a difference in mentality],” Semenyo said after the game.

“It starts in training every day. Little habits – passing drills, possession.

“It’s the attention to detail, everyone’s focused. It’s not lacking. When you do that in training it follows into games and everyone just wants to win.

“Everyone’s just major focused, and that shift in mentality is so crazy. Little things and making sure you’re in tip-top shape.”

City cut the lead at the top of the table to two points, putting pressure on Arsenal who play Chelsea on Sunday at the Emirates.

“It means everything [to close the gap]. We just want to win all our games on our side and whatever Arsenal do we’ll have to wait and see,” continued Semenyo.

“We have to control what we can control.”
