Some youth of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, attacked a bus terminal, causing damage to several vehicles.

According to a report by Otec FM, the mob, armed with weapons such as cutlasses and logs, stormed the Akyeamfuor bus terminal and demanded to be shown the Techiman section of the terminal.

After identifying the Techiman section, the mob went on a rampage, smashing the windows of some cars and causing other forms of damage.

According to a reporter from the radio station, about eight cars were damaged in the attack.

An eyewitness who spoke to the media house on condition of anonymity said those present during the attack had to flee for their lives.

He stated that the youth said their action was in retaliation to an incident on Monday at Techiman, where some buses escorting the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II from a funeral at Nkoranza were allegedly attacked by some youth of Techiman.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service issued a statement on Tuesday announcing the commencement of an investigation into the attack in Techiman.

Some youths in Kumasi reportedly stormed the Akyeamfour bus terminal yesterday, specifically the area where vehicles load to Techiman, with weapons and vandalized several vehicles.

They claimed that their violent action was in response to last Monday’s incident at Techiman,… pic.twitter.com/XRDxSFUXG9
