Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie’s manager, Angel Town, has opened up about what led to his decision to quit his job at a bank and to become a talent manager.
Speaking on the Stay By Plan podcast shared on X on October 3, 2025, Angel Town shared that the demanding and rigid nature of the job gave him less time for himself.
“We are the typical people who leave the bank after 10… I didn’t love banking. Honestly, people are sitting on mad bread, and then you actually see all of these figures and earn practically nothing. The space is not even flexible.
“I can’t end up like running maybe a yam and pork business on the side, because I can’t oversee it. I’m there from 7 A.M., and if I am not lucky, I get home at 10 P.M. Then the next morning, I have to activate and be there. It’s crazy,” he said.

The talent manager also shared how a female branch manager verbally abused him after he tried assisting her with her bag.
“My branch manager was a female. She spoke to me somehow, and I didn’t like it… So she was coming into the branch, and I quickly went around her because I was trying to be an outstanding staff member.
“I ran to her to try to get her handbag, and she insulted me, calling me a fool. She was like I have all boys. Don’t ever do that. It’s not a manly thing. Own your world. I was so surprised. The delivery was just so bad.”
Following the harsh treatment he had received from his branch manager, Angelo noted that the breaking point came when he was transferred from Accra to WA in the early stages of his career.
According to Angel Town, he wasn’t interested in starting a new life in WA, which led him to quit his job without informing his parents.

“I had a quick and early transfer from the bank to go to Wa. There was no way I was starting my life in WA because I just graduated. I wasn’t going to go to WA. That’s when I did the craziest thing: I quit.
“I didn’t have a plan, but I couldn’t tell my mom. I couldn’t tell anybody. Just quit. I leave the house like I’m going to work. But I don’t have anywhere to go,” he added.
