Does former Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon have no shame?

In March 2023, shortly after she stood down, the fallen star of the SNP was arrested in connection with an ongoing fraud inquiry into £600,000 of missing donations. She was released without charge but remains under police investigation.

Her husband Peter Murrell, meanwhile, who was SNP chief executive, was arrested a second time and charged with embezzlement. They have since split.

Yet now, she has indicated she will stand again in the Holyrood election next year.

It’s not as if she’s been making great contributions to parliament either. Since she returned to the backbenches almost two years ago, Sturgeon has spoken only three times.

This is the same Nicola Sturgeon who memorably said Labour lost power back in 2015 because they were ‘lazy, complacent and arrogant’.

Labour MP Dame Siobhain McDonagh can’t contain her excitement at the Government’s support for a third runway at Heathrow.

‘I am prepared to take a cement mixer and do it myself,’ she says, adding that she’s picked up skills from her Irish builder father. Makes a change from MPs protesting against new developments. against new developments.

Will Carol stick up for Labour now?

Veteran radio presenter Liz Kershaw has taken a pop on X at the virtue-signalling Carol Vorderman.

‘Remembering that me old mate Carol Vorderman took credit for bringing down the ‘corrupt Conservatives’ and installing Keir Starmer and co. I just thought I’d check what she’s got to say now that this government has proved to be so incompetent and corrupt.’

    Quote of the Week

On the 50th anniversary last week of Margaret Thatcher becoming the Conservative leader, the former Tory minister Edwina Currie posted on social media: ‘A 49-year-old woman scientist, barrister, tax expert.[The] Press called her a ‘housewife’ . . . And yes, she was our greatest PM for 11 years.’

BBC2 has cleared an hour of prime-time for the encounter. Is he going to announce his departure from Parliament for a new life in Silicon Valley?

In a House of Lords’ debate on solar power, one participant was noticeably upset, noting that 4 per cent of Nottinghamshire may soon be consumed by panels. The name of the peer? Lord Trees.

    Family affair in Lords

In obscure Left-wing businessman called Simon Pitkeathley took his seat in the House of Lords last week.

What had he done to deserve ennoblement? He is the chap Starmer beat to become Labour parliamentary candidate in Holborn and St Pancras in 2014. He joins his mum, Baroness Pitkeathley.

Labour may be kicking out the last of the blue bloods, but who said the hereditary principle was finished in the Lords?

Sacked as Starmer’s chief of staff, Sue Gray was rewarded for her failure when she took her seat in the House of Lords last week as Baroness Gray of Tottenham. But was the title a pointed dig at Starmer?

Tottenham are the north London rivals of Arsenal which is Starmer’s team, even if he does get someone else to pay for his match tickets.
