The Baba Yara Sports Stadium is undergoing renovation works

The Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, has given an update on the renovation works currently ongoing at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

In a video shared by the NSA boss on his Facebook page, the grass, which was initially riddled with brown patches, is gradually taking shape -looking fresh and green.

In the post on Facebook, some individuals were seen watering the grass, while others were working on the tracks as part of renovation efforts.

Speaking on the progress of the renovation works, Ampofo Ankrah stated that he is determined to get the pitch back to its former state, regardless of the cost implications.

About the previous state of the pitch

The Baba Yara Sports Stadium was in a deplorable state after footage emerged on social media showing its poor condition.

In a video that went viral on social media, specifically X, the grass on the pitch seemed to have faded significantly, sparking concerns.

The pitch, which is expected to be watered regularly to maintain its moisture, had turned dry and brown.

The entire pitch was faded, with only small portions occupied by grass, while other fixtures at the facility seemed to be in bad shape, despite the facility being closed for work.
