Former Public Procurement Authority Board Chairman Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi has been released from the National Intelligence Bureau’s (NIB) custody.
He was arrested in relation to a financial probe while serving as the Ghana Infrastructural Investment Fund (GIIF) Board Chairman.
Ken Kuranchie, Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi’s lawyer, confirmed his release, according to a report by citinewsroom.com.
Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi was at home on Sunday morning when a group of guys in three vehicles showed up and told him he was needed at the NIB, according to Ken Kuranchie.
He willingly accompanied them to the NIB headquarters before being brought to the NIB offices in Kawukudi, Accra.
According to Kuranchie, the inquiry concerns financial issues pertaining to specific approvals issued during Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi’s tenure as GIIF’s board chairman.
