BASED on last week’s news report that emerged from negotiations between the U.S and Iran on limiting the extent of uranium enrichment by the latter, there were high hopes of reaching a deal in their next meeting scheduled for Monday March 2, 2026.

Only to learn from France-24 in English that the U.S and Israel had unilaterally carried out air strikes on Iran on Saturday February 28, 2026, thereby triggering a deadly war. On Sunday, barely 24 hours after their first attack news of the death of Ali Khamenei, the supreme leader of Iran, began to circulate. To remind readers the same unilateral air strikes were carried out in June last year (2025) against Iran by the two nations. Principally to destroy all the Iranian nuclear facilities, with special reference to their enrichment facilities. Whether they succeeded in destroying the imagined nuclear bomb and highly enriched uranium was doubtful. If they had succeeded in eliminating them, there would be no need to repeat their current attacks.

These suspicions on Iran’s enrichment capabilities takes us back to the era of the Obama Administration that preceded the Clinton Administration. After a long period of intense negotiations, the U.S and Iran reached a historic agreement centred, essentially, on the level of enrichment of uranium. When the Jewish influenced, the Republican Party won the elections under Trump, and that deal was torn into pieces, calling for fresh negotiations with Iran.

Their argument being that there were loopholes through which Iran could exploit and enrich uranium to bomb-grade. After continued negotiations and contrary to the testimony of the nuclear watchdog, Iran had complied with all the demands of agreements and that there was no such bombs U.S and Israel carried out their attacks in June 2025.

This scenario is no different from the case of the Bush Administration that wanted to attack Iraq during the Saddam Hussein’s Regime on the grounds that Iraq had produced weapons of mass destruction in reference to atomic bombs. The I.A.E.A categorically denied that allegation and told the world that there were no such bombs in Iraq. Notwithstanding, the U.S and Britain went ahead process of increasing the amount of the U-235 in the final mixture and destroyed Iraqi nuclear facilities. Since then, the U.S has failed to provide an idea of evidence to substantiate that claim.

In trying to justify reasons for this current strikes on Iran President Trump now uses the term pre-emptive strike on the grounds that Iran was going to attack Israel first.

The Iranian Regime is suffering from economic sanction that have crippled its economy, hence no mood to go to war. Another big lie is that Iran has developed intercontinental ballistic missiles that can reach the U.S. Financially and technically, Iran is far removed from that technical breakthrough by several years. Hence is never one of its objectives in the development of defensive missiles.

Before continuing with further discussions let me take this opportunity to briefly explain to the reading public what is meant by uranium enrichment which is key to understanding what is currently at stake. The uranium atom consists of two major species, namely Uranium-235 and the heavier U-238. The former is the species that can be split to release the fantastic energy stored in it, while the latter cannot be split.

Unfortunately, the useful U-235 is less than one per cent in total uranium, while the useless U-238 is in the greater majority of more than 90 percentage. You can appreciate at this juncture that you have to carry out several separations in the order of thousand repetitions before attainment of high party U-235. This is what is called enrichment.

In the current state of the art separation of U-235 from U-238 use is made of high speed centrifuges that must have speeds in the order of thousands of revolutions per second. The heavier U-238 moves to the periphery of the centrifuge, while the less heavy U-235 moves to the centre; thereby bringing about separation (See Fig). The centrifuge is usually made from strong and robust alloys to offset the high speed, which calls for high technology and expertise in alloy manufacture.

All these challenges have made enrichment the special prerogative of the industrialised nations. Iran having successfully enriched uranium to high purity grade has given palpable evidence of having moved away from Third World membership to the comity of the industrialised nations. Pertinent to state here as well that Iran is the first Muslim nation to manufacture a rocket and used it in sending satellites into space.

Once in possession of the enriched uranium, the next step is to set up technical arrangements for the release of the fantastic amount of energy stored in the atom. When carried out in a controlled and sustainable manner you end up in getting useful energy as obtained in POWER NUCLEAR REACTORS for generating electricity. If the release of the atomic energy in the uranium is carried out in an uncontrolled manner in limited space, an ATOMIC BOMB is created.

Since the start of its researches, the Islamic Republic of Iran has persistently announced that its primary aim is to use nuclear science and technology to generate electricity. And the U.N nuclear watch-dog has confirmed severally that, apart from allowing regular inspections on its nuclear facilities, Iran has no bombs neither has it exceeded the limit of enrichment imposed on him in agreements.

In the face of this testimony, any fear of “Iran becoming a nuclear monster” as others see him is irrational and only products from fertile imaginations.

We, therefore, call on the U.N, the E.U, the A.U and independent minded Americans, China and North Korea to condemn these barbaric attacks against Iran. We, therefore, welcome utterances of the French Prez, Spanish P.M, the Norwegian, Canadian etc in condemning the on-going strikes on Iran as acts that violate international norm of diplomacy.

The British P.M’s refusal to let the U.S use its base in Cyprus to launch attack on Iran is also most welcome. We also call on Putin, who has lost Syria and is in the process of losing Iran, to act and help. Similarly, China and North Korea must come to the aid of Iran since it is being attacked without any justification.

Last but not the least, we also call on the entire Muslim Dispensation to pray fervently to Allah in the course of this Ramadan to stop this senseless war. Iran is the country of origin of the Promised Messiah and the Mahdi, on whom be peace.

Conclusion

Let the U.N and the entire world make all concerted efforts to stop these senseless aggressions against Iran.
