    ‎

‎The Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has launched a fresh campaign to repair and upgrade a network of 33 rural roads that she says are “the lifelines of our farmers and the backbone of the constituency’s economy.” In a press conference held at the district assembly hall on Monday, the MP presented a detailed map of the priority routes and outlined three feeder‑road projects that have already secured government approval.

    ‎

    ‎The 33‑Road Priority List

    ‎

‎Hon. Cudjoe’s technical team identified 33 stretches of deteriorating road that, if left unattended, threaten to deepen post‑harvest losses, inflate transport costs and further isolate remote villages. Among the most critical corridors are:

    ‎

    ‎Humgebire Gate – Ankwaso – Juabo – Wuratrem – Wasa Akropong

    ‎

    ‎Wuratrem – Ankasie – Agona Amenfi

    ‎

    ‎Pensanom – Obeng – Anakum – Amuni Dwirigum – Fuleso

    ‎

‎Agona Amenfi – Kyenkyen Nkwanta – Agona Camp – Owusu Dapaa – Amonda

    ‎Manso Amenfi – Kwabuakrom

    ‎Manso Amenfi – Manso Manhyia

    ‎

‎(These six links are part of the broader 33‑road catalogue, which also includes connections to mining sites, health centres and secondary schools across the district.)

    ‎

‎In her remarks, Hon. Cudjoe explained that “the condition of these roads determines whether a farmer can get his cocoa, plantain or cassava to market before it spoils.” She cited recent field surveys that show post‑harvest losses of up to 18 % on farms that rely on the most impassable routes, and transport costs that are 35 % higher than in neighboring districts with better infrastructure.

    ‎

‎Approved Projects Signal a Start, Not a Finish

    ‎

‎The MP also announced that three major feeder‑road works have already been green‑lighted by the Ministry of Roads and Highways and are slated to begin in the coming fiscal year:

    ‎

    ‎Project Length Scope

‎Akyere Kwamang – Anyinabrem Feeder Road 19.04 km Graded and compacted, with drainage culverts

‎Anyinabrem – Bonuamah – Armahkrom Feeder Road 17.16 km Full‑width grading and surface stabilization

‎Bitumen Surfacing of Asankragua – Agona Amenfi – Sefwi Bekwai Road 53 km Asphalt surfacing, shoulder widening, and signage

    ‎

‎“These projects are a welcome first step,” said Hon. Cudjoe, “but they cover only a fraction of the network that our people depend on daily. We need a comprehensive, phased rollout that tackles the entire 33‑road list within the next two years.”

    ‎
