Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, Emmanuel Victor Smith, has paid a working visit to Worcester, Massachusetts, to meet members of the Ghanaian community and outline key elements of President John Dramani Mahama’s agenda of Resetting the Economy.
The visit, which forms part of the Embassy’s annual public outreach programme, included engagements with three predominantly Ghanaian churches: the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Mount Zion Assembly led by Dr Jonathan Yawson; the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) Holy Ghost Temple, led by Pastor Adu Aboagye and the Church of Pentecost Central Twi Assembly, led by Pastor Samuel Jojo Forson.
Addressing congregants at the various churches, Ambassador Smith stated that Ghana had made “significant strides in development initiatives,” positioning the country as a highly investor-friendly destination.
He said the time had come for Ghanaians in the United States to partner with institutions and businesses to drive investment back home, noting that such collaborations would “promote development and create jobs for the teeming youth.”

The Ambassador urged community members to return to Ghana with the skills and experience acquired abroad, stressing that they would be welcomed as “first-class citizens” ready to contribute to the national reset agenda.
He added that many African Americans were already choosing to make Ghana their home, acquiring land, building homes and establishing industries.
He encouraged the diaspora to leverage international best practices to support Ghana’s development efforts.
Touching on the mining sector, Ambassador Smith said Ghana was making substantial gains from small-scale mining, indicating that the Gold Board had realised about US$5 million within six months.
Responding to questions about Ghana’s borrowing outlook, he cited the Minister of Finance as saying the country had sufficient resources and would not be borrowing in the near term and disclosed that recent applications for visas to Ghana were unprecedented, describing it as a sign of renewed global interest in the country.
Ambassador Smith also acknowledged the “significant role” played by faith-based organisations in national development, commending their continued support for community-building and social progress.
The visit begins his series of engagements in Worcester aimed at strengthening ties with the Ghanaian diaspora and mobilising support for national development priorities.
