Ace highlife musician Amakye Dede and his team have been involved in an accident, his management has confirmed.

According to a statement released on December 31, 2024, the accident occurred during Amakye Dede’s journey from Takoradi to Agona Swedru, en route to a scheduled show.

The incident took place in the early hours of Sunday, December 29, between Apam and Winneba, around 1:50 am, while traveling in a V8 Land Cruiser.

The statement revealed that Amakye Dede and his team were promptly rushed to Winneba Hospital, where they received treatment from 2 am to 6 am.

Despite the physical toll of the accident, the statement added that Amakye Dede showed resilience by traveling to Kumasi later that morning for a scheduled performance.

However, due to the strain from the incident, he was unable to perform as planned and, in his absence, Amakye Dede‘s band stepped in to perform on his behalf.

The management team also apologised for any inconvenience caused by the incident and urged fans to keep Amakye Dede and his team in their prayers.

    Read the full statement below:

“It is with great concern that we inform our cherished fans, partners, and the general public about an unfortunate accident involving the legendary Amakye Dede and his team in the early hours of Sunday, December 29, 2024. At approximately 1:50 am. The incident occurred during our journey from Takoradi, following a successful performance at the Takoradi City Mall, to Agona Swedru for the next scheduled show. The accident happened between Apam and Winneba. Amakye Dede and his team were immediately rushed to Winneba Hospital where they received first aid treatment from 2 am to 6 am.

“Despite the physical toll of the incident, Amakye Dede demonstrated remarkable dedication to his fans by traveling to Kumasi later that morning for a scheduled performance. However, due to the strain from the ordeal, he was unable to perform as planned. And his incredible band stepped in to deliver an incredible performance on his behalf. The vehicle involved was a V8 land cruiser.

“We deeply regret the impact this has had on our cherished fans, particularly those in Kumasi, and we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused. Your understanding, patience, and unwavering support during this difficult time mean everything to us. We thank you for the prayers and love and ask for a few days to fully recover. We promise to return stronger, energized, and ready to deliver the legendary performances you know and love. Thank you for standing with us.”
