Amad is a player of Manchester United

Manchester United forward, Amad Diallo, has been granted compassionate leave by the club following the death of a close family member.

The Cote d’Ivoire international has travelled back home to be with his loved ones during this difficult period and will not feature in United’s Premier League clash against Brentford on Saturday.

Head coach Ruben Amorim confirmed the winger’s absence and stressed that football was secondary in the face of personal loss.

“We are giving all the support to Amad,” Amorim said. “The next game is not important. What matters now is that he is with his family.”

The 22-year-old has been a regular feature for United this season, starting five of the club’s six games, operating either as an advanced playmaker in the number 10 role or as a right wing-back.

His versatility and energy have made him one of Amorim’s most trusted players since the start of the campaign.

Amad’s situation comes just days after he was subjected to criticism from sections of United’s fanbase on social media, following his friendly interaction with former teammate Alejandro Garnacho after United’s win over Chelsea.

Garnacho’s controversial departure from Old Trafford this summer left a bitter taste among many supporters, and Amad was targeted online before later deleting posts from both Instagram and X.

United have assured their full backing for the player and urged respect during this period of mourning. The club confirmed that he will rejoin the squad only when he feels ready.
