The battle lines are drawn for one of the most crucial matches in Ghanaian football this season.

A high-stakes playoff between Real Tamale United (RTU) and Techiman Eleven Wonders, with the final promotion spot to the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League up for grabs.

    When and where

The much-anticipated clash takes place on Friday, May 30, 2025, at the Accra Sports Stadium. Kick-off will mark the beginning of 90 minutes, or more, that could define the future of either club.

    The road to Accra

Real Tamale United are on a mission of redemption. Just last season, they were relegated from the Ghana Premier League after a disappointing campaign that yielded only 31 points from 34 games.

But the Northern giants have roared back in Zone One A of the Access Bank Division One League, finishing top with 58 points from 28 games.

They’ve not just won games, they’ve dominated. RTU scored 59 goals, more than any other team in their zone, and conceded just 21, showcasing both attacking flair and defensive solidity.

With 18 wins, 4 draws, and 6 defeats, the team arrives in Accra with strong momentum.

Techiman Eleven Wonders, on the other hand, are dreaming of a return to the topflight for the first time since their relegation three seasons ago.

This is their second playoff appearance, they fell short against Bofoakwa Tano in their last attempt. But this time, they mean business.

Wonders topped Zone One B with 53 points, notching up 15 wins, 8 draws, and 5 losses.

They were the best attacking and defensive side in their zone, scoring 42 goals and conceding just 22.

    Players to watch

RTU will lean on their attacking trio of Wisdom Jonas Manyina (15 goals), Blabala Bamon (12 goals), and Abdul Rashid (10 goals) to fire them back into the Premier League. Their form has been crucial in RTU’s resurgence.

Eleven Wonders boast their own key men. Farouk Ameyaw, a right-back with six goals to his name, has been an unlikely source of attacking contributions.

At the back, goalkeeper Kwame Opoku has been a wall, keeping 13 clean sheets in 25 matches.

    What’s at stake?

This isn’t just a football match, it’s a season-defining showdown. The winner will join the likes of Asante Kotoko, Hearts of Oak, and Samartex in the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League.

For RTU, it’s a chance to prove that their drop last season was only a blip. For Eleven Wonders, it’s the opportunity to finally complete their rebuild and return to the elite after three long years.

Both teams carry Premier League experience. Both have passionate fan bases. And both know that there’s no second chance after this.

A season comes down to this

Friday’s game promises drama, emotion, and the raw intensity that only promotion playoffs can offer.

For one club, it will be a triumphant return to Ghana’s top flight. For the other, another year of reflection and rebuilding in Division One.
