At just 20 years old, Kevin Martins is steadily climbing the ranks of European football.

The son of former Nigerian international Obafemi Martins and Ghanaian-Italian Abigail Barwuah, his journey is one shaped by talent, heritage, and identity.

Kevin currently plays as a striker for Serie A club Monza. But his story goes beyond his performances on the pitch, it’s also about the rich football legacy he carries.

Born and raised in Italy, Kevin has inherited more than just his father’s trademark speed and sharp eye for goal.

His mother, Abigail, is the sister of former Italy international Mario Balotelli, making Balotelli his uncle and adding another layer to Kevin’s remarkable football lineage.

This unique background places Kevin at the crossroads of three footballing nations: Italy, Nigeria, and Ghana.

Though he developed through the Italian youth system and has represented Italy at youth level, Kevin remains uncapped at the senior level, leaving all three nations hopeful and watching closely as his career continues to unfold.

That keeps the door open for Ghana, where his maternal roots lie, and where his eligibility has already sparked conversation among fans and observers who hope to see him wear the Black Stars shirt.

Kevin made his debut for Monza in a Coppa Italia fixture back in September 2024, impressing with his mobility and decision-making.

With the club backing his growth and his profile rising, a potential senior international call-up seems closer than ever.

He made nine appearances for Monza during the 2024/25 Serie A campaign, gaining valuable first-team experience.

However, it was a challenging season for the club, which ended with relegation after finishing at the bottom of the table.
