Former Deputy Attorney General Alfred Tuah-Yeboah has questioned Attorney General Dr Dominic Akuritinga Ayine’s decision to discontinue the Saglemi Housing Project case.

Speaking in an interview on Channel One TV, monitored by GhanaWeb on Monday, January 12, 2025, Tuah-Yeboah argued that investigations by the state had revealed that out of the 5,000 houses planned, only 1,506 had been built.

Out of these, he said 666 were substantially completed, 74 were at the foundation stage, and 778 were structurally complete.

He stated, “If you look at the Saglemi docket, it was built after a painstaking investigation by the State Security Agency. Because this matter involved construction, there was the need for an evaluation of the project to be done. I am very surprised that the Attorney General will make such a statement, and I am inclined to believe that he has either not gone through the case docket at the Attorney-General’s Office or he has gone through it and decided to spew untruths.”

His comment follows Dr Ayine’s remarks that the case was “poorly investigated” and that the charges were “poorly thought through.”

In February 2025, the Attorney General officially withdrew all charges against former works and housing minister Collins Dauda and four others involved in the case.

The accused persons had previously faced seventy charges, including causing financial loss to the state, in connection with the controversial $200 million Saglemi Affordable Housing Project.

The case, initiated under the previous administration, alleged that the accused persons were instrumental in approving and implementing the housing project.
