Asante Kotoko are through to the final of the 2024/25 MTN FA Cup after edging Berekum Chelsea 1-0 in a tense semifinal clash at the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa on Saturday.
The first half ended goalless, with both sides creating a few chances but failing to convert. After the break, Kotoko stepped up their intensity and found the breakthrough through Albert Amoah, whose composed finish proved to be the winner.
The result puts head coach Abdul Karim Zito on course for his first trophy with the Porcupine Warriors, marking a significant step in his tenure. Kotoko’s disciplined display and tactical organisation saw them hold off a determined Berekum Chelsea side that struggled to respond after going behind.
Former Hearts of Oak boss Samuel Boadu, now in charge of Chelsea, was unable to mastermind a comeback, with the Blues’ spirited FA Cup run ending in disappointment.
Kotoko will now face lower-tier side Golden Kick in the final, as they aim to cap off their campaign with silverware and secure a return to continental football.
