In the ongoing legal feud involving the family of Highlife legend Daddy Lumba, MC Yaa Yeboah has criticised Lawyer William Kusi, describing his communication style as “disgusting” and “unprofessional.”

Speaking on Peace FM, Yaa Yeboah expressed concern over how the lawyer, who represents Lumba’s legal wife, Akosua Serwaa, has conducted himself publicly throughout the court proceedings.

According to her, lawyers are expected to uphold a certain level of decorum, especially when dealing with sensitive and active court cases. However, she believes William Kusi’s behavior falls far below that standard.

Why didn’t Akosua Serwaa sue Daddy Lumba when he was alive? – MC Yaa Yeboah asks

She argued that as a lawyer representing a client in an active court case, it is unethical and inappropriate to publicly attack the opposing side, particularly when the presiding judge has advised both parties to engage in dialogue to resolve their differences.

Yaa Yeboah further condemned Akosua Serwaa’s lawyer’s alleged name-calling and public comments directed at the defendants, including Odo Broni, the second defendant in the ongoing case.

“I believe that as part of legal training, communication is one of the key skills every lawyer is expected to learn. But when I look at Lawyer William’s communication and communication skills he uses, honestly, it’s disgusting and sickening to the stomach. I don’t know of any lawyer handling a case in court who would ignore the judge’s advice for both parties to dialogue, only to come out and start calling the defendants names. It’s unacceptable.

“As the lawyer leading the case, he’s supposed to set an example. His actions can influence others, especially the women following the case, to also speak in a certain way. The name-calling on social media, especially coming from a lawyer, is just wrong. He should sit up. I don’t expect a lawyer of his standing to go public and use unprintable words against defendants when the judge hasn’t even declared who has a stance or not,” she said.

William Kusi, who represents Akosua Serwaa, is at the center of the ongoing legal tussle over who should be recognized as the rightful wife of the late Highlife legend Daddy Lumba.

William Kusi is arguing that his client is the musician’s only legally married wife and should have the sole right to perform the widowhood rites.

The case, which pits Akosua Serwaa against Lumba’s family head, Kofi Owusu Fosu, and Lumba’s partner, Odo Broni, has been adjourned to October 28, 2025, to allow both sides to complete their filings and consider an amicable settlement.
