Akosua Serwaa, the first wife of the late Highlife musician Daddy Lumba, has broken her silence following her return to Ghana from Germany.

She touched down at the Kotoka International Airport on January 9, 2026, to an unexpected show of support. Waiting to receive her were sympathisers, media figures including Ohemaa Woyeje and Sally Mann, members of Daddy Lumba’s family, as well as notable personalities such as Evangelist Papa Shee and businessman Kennedy Agyapong, widely known as Kenpong.

In a statement issued a day later, on January 10, Akosua Serwaa recounted her surprise at the turnout. She explained that after landing safely, she first offered thanks to God for His protection.

As she made her way through the arrival hall and noticed a large gathering ahead, she initially assumed a prominent national figure must have been on the same flight. It was only as she got closer that she realised the crowd had come not for a public official, but for her, describing herself as their sister, mother, daughter, and the widow of Daddy Lumba.

She went on to acknowledge the backing she has received since her husband’s passing, with particular appreciation for Team Legal Wives.

According to her, their solidarity, prayers, advocacy, and consistent presence gave her strength during a deeply trying period. She said the unity they demonstrated represented a broader stand for truth and justice, and highlighted the power of collective support in moments of adversity.

Akosua Serwaa’s arrival in Ghana comes weeks after Daddy Lumba’s funeral was held at Heroes Park in Kumasi on December 13, 2026. She, along with some family members, did not attend the burial, citing unresolved disagreements surrounding funeral arrangements and widowhood rites.
