Following the 15-year sentence handed down to Evangelist Patricia “Agradaa” Asiamah for defrauding by false pretenses and charlatanic advertisement, her husband, Angel Asiamah, stepped into her role on Sunday, July 6, at the Heavenway Champion International Ministry.
During his solemn sermon on July 6, 2025, Asiamah claimed that his wife’s imprisonment is part of a divine plan to take the gospel to the prisons.
Agradaa was convicted on July 3, 2025, by an Accra Circuit Court and sentenced to 15 years in prison with hard labor after being found guilty of luring followers on a televised broadcast with false claims of spiritual abilities to double money.
Addressing congregants from the pulpit, Angel Asiamah drew spiritual parallels to the trials of Jesus, Jonah, and other biblical figures.
“Look at what happened to Jesus with his crucifixion and everything. It was all part of the plan. The same way, when God wanted Jonah to preach to the people of Nineveh and he refused, he had to enter the belly of the big fish.
“So, what happened to our mother in the Lord is also part of the plan. If God wants you to preach at Nsawam, will you use a phone to preach there? You have to be there in person… even though it seems like she has been jailed for 15 years, she is there on a mission for God,” he declared.
He added that their church matriarch’s incarceration is part of a higher divine plan, reminding them that “in the eyes of men, my wife has been jailed for 15 years, but to God… a thousand years is like a day.”
He encouraged the congregation to remain steadfast and continue supporting the ministry in her absence.
