Dancehall musician Samini (L) and Stonebwoy (R)

Veteran dancehall musician, Samini has taken a swipe at critics and also Stonebwoy after some netizens ‘dragged’ him into the ongoing social media debates on who is the originator of the afro-dancehall genre.

In a post shared on X on July 2, 2025, Samini called on a netizen who questioned him about the role he played in championing the Afro-dancehall genre.

The user with an account name Repost King noted “Smh… assuming you right, how well did you champion this. What has been your effort in bringing to light Afro-dancehall. The fact that you advised him on fusing ayigbe to his songs doesn’t make you the originator. You are a legend undisputed but Afro-dancehall has always been 1Gad’s.”

Responding to the post, Samini noted that netizens should respect his brand and artistry.

According to Samini, he has played a pivotal role in shaping the Ghanaian dancehall industry hence he will not accept any form of disrespect from Ghanaians.

Samini, in his post also noted that he blames Stonebwoy for the disrespect he is receiving from netizens due to the ongoing social media debate.

“Put some respect on my name G. SMH I blame @stonebwoy,” he said.

The “My Own” hitmaker further called on critics not to spark a feud between him and Stonebwoy.

“Tell me the difference. After that tell me who named it and who renamed it. Don’t make me and @stonebwoy fight ooo. He knows the truth I beg. DONT. Man start vex these foolish newbies. Massa talk to your fans oooo. Yooooo,” he added.
