Controversial US-based Ghanaian media personality Valentina Nana Agyeiwaa, popularly known as Afia Schwarzenegger, has reportedly taken a bold step by informing American filmmaker Tyler Perry about the alleged illegal broadcast of his latest Netflix film, Straw, by local television stations in Ghana.

In a post shared on her official social media accounts, Afia Schwarzenegger disclosed that she had contacted Perry directly via Instagram to commend him for the critically acclaimed movie, while also raising concerns about copyright infringement by certain Ghanaian broadcasters.

According to her account, several television channels in Ghana, including the Accra-based Light TV, aired the newly released Netflix feature without proper licensing—an act that constitutes piracy under international intellectual property laws.

Afia Schwarzenegger stated that she was deeply alarmed by the unauthorised transmission and felt morally obligated to notify Perry.

In her message, she reportedly included her contact details and offered to assist the award-winning filmmaker should he decide to take legal action against the alleged infringers.

She also claimed to have compiled a comprehensive list of local stations that illegally downloaded and aired the film. “This is not just unethical; it is a serious crime that puts Ghana’s media landscape at risk,” she wrote.

In an unexpected twist, Afia added a light-hearted but audacious request: a $1 million reward from Tyler Perry for helping expose the piracy and potentially initiating legal proceedings.
