Captain Kalidou Koulibaly presents AFCON trophy to President of Senegal, Bassirou Diomaye Faye

The Terenga Lions of Senegal were given a rousing hero’s welcome at the Presidential Palace in Dakar after winning the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Senegal on Sunday, January 18, 2026, were crowned Champions of Africa for the second time in history after beating host nation Morocco 1-0 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.

The team led by captain Kalidou Koulibaly and star player Sadio Mane arrived at the Blaise Diagne International Airport with the AFCON trophy on the evening of Monday, January 19, 2026.

President of Senegal, Bassirou Diomaye Faye received the players, the entire technical team and officials at the Presidential Palace to thank them for their services and putting smiles on the faces of the Senegalese people with their victory.

The players, clad in traditional white kaftans thanked the President and the Senegalese people for their support throughout the tournament in Morocco.

Senegal have now joined the list of countries that have won the Africa Cup of Nations more than once.
