Ghanaian content creator Adobea has apologised to the public following intense criticism over a viral video in which she appeared to be drinking from a bottle believed to contain an alcoholic beverage.
The video quickly spread across social media, attracting widespread reactions from viewers who expressed concern after seeing Adobea drinking from what appeared to be a Smirnoff bottle.
Amid the growing backlash, Adobea and her team released a video on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, seeking to clarify what happened and address the concerns raised by the public.
According to Adobea, the bottle seen in the viral footage did not contain alcohol. She explained that it had been filled with water and was being used as a prop during the creation of their content.
She maintained that the appearance of the bottle led viewers to believe that she was consuming an alcoholic drink, resulting in the controversy that followed.
Despite offering the explanation, Adobea and her team acknowledged that the visual itself could understandably raise concerns, particularly because of how the footage was perceived by the public.
The content creator subsequently expressed regret over the incident and rendered an apology to the general public. She also promised to avoid creating a similar situation in the future.
