Ghanaian actor Adjetey Anang has opened up about one of the most painful experiences of his early romantic life, revealing the identity of the woman who broke his heart while he was still in secondary school.
The veteran actor, popularly known for his memorable roles in Ghanaian films and television productions, made the revelation during an interview with Nikki Samonas on Joy Prime’s Changes show.
Reflecting on his experiences with love and friendship during his school days, Adjetey Anang disclosed that his first serious girlfriend was a beautiful young lady named Theodora Lartey, whom he affectionately called “Beeca.”

According to the actor, he was immediately drawn to Theodora because of her beauty, upbringing and outspoken personality.
“Theodora Lartey, I’ll never forget this girl Beeca. This was in secondary school. I mean, pretty girl, well nurtured from a good home, and she was pretty,” he recalled.
How Their Teenage Romance Began
Adjetey explained that he and Theodora met while they were both in secondary school and gradually developed feelings for each other.
At the time, he was a senior in the school, while Theodora wore a blue skirt, a detail he still remembered vividly years later.
He said their relationship developed naturally, with the two regularly exchanging handwritten letters because mobile phones and social media were not available at the time.
“We hit on in school; she was in a blue skirt while I was a senior and so we struck and just liked each other. Everything was working nicely as we used to write letters to each other,” he said.
However, the relationship took an unexpected turn when Theodora travelled abroad without informing him.
Adjetey recalled visiting Theodora during one of their long vacations, only to receive shocking news from her sister.
He had expected to see his girlfriend but was instead told that she had travelled.
The revelation was particularly painful because communication was difficult at the time. There were no mobile phones or social media platforms that could have allowed him to immediately contact her.
“She told me she was surprised I didn’t have any information because Beeca had travelled. This was the age where we didn’t have phones and social media didn’t exist. So there was no way to contact her,” he explained.
According to Adjetey, Theodora’s sister later explained that everything had happened quickly and that she had travelled with her uncle to South Africa.
He was subsequently told that the family might continue to the United Kingdom from South Africa.
“I asked when she was coming back, and the sister said they may continue to UK from there. I stood there, and everything was like a dream,” he recounted.
The actor revealed that the relationship was serious from his perspective and that he had already begun imagining a future with Theodora.
He said he considered her the first woman he had personally chosen as a girlfriend and believed they could eventually get married and have children together.
“This was the one that I personally chose, and I could see the future with the two of us. Long there, I could see our children even in the future. Yeah, it was serious, and then why did she treat me this way?” he said.
