The Adansi North District Chief Executive, Mr Charles Kofi Ogbeh, has presented financial support totalling GH¢80,000 to People Living With Disabilities (PLWDs) in the district.
It forms part of the District Assemblies Common Fund allocation to address the needs of the PLWDs.
The presentation, held on Friday, focused on education, health, and capacity building.
According to the District Chief Executive (DCE), the support aims to empower individuals with disabilities as plans were underway to build their capacity through skill training and business advisory services.
He added that a total number of 149 PLWDs would be registered on the National Health Insurance Scheme to enable them to access free medical care.
The district is home to four disability associations: the National Association of the Deaf, Ghana Blind Union, Physically Disabled Association, and the Ghana Federation of Disability, which serves as the umbrella organisation.
Mr Degraft Kyeremanteng, District President of the Ghana Federation of Disability, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the District Assembly for the support, noting it would significantly enhance their financial stability and strength.
This gesture re-emphasises the district’s commitment to inclusivity and support for vulnerable groups, aligning with broader efforts to promote social welfare and development in the Adansi North District.
