Veteran Kumawood actress Mavis Yeboah, popularly known as Maame Gyanwaa, has made an emotional appeal for financial assistance as she continues to undergo treatment for a serious eye condition that has severely affected her vision.
The actress, who has reportedly been battling retinal artery occlusion, opened up about her health and financial struggles in a video from a recent interview shared on Sunday, September 6, 2026.
Maame Gyanwaa explained that the cost of her treatment has become increasingly difficult to manage, with her medical care requiring approximately GH¢6,000 every month.
‘My Children Can No Longer Afford It’
According to the actress, her children have been supporting her financially throughout her treatment, but they have now reached a point where they can no longer comfortably meet the rising expenses.
She explained that her current financial difficulties should not be attributed to irresponsible spending during her active years in the Ghanaian movie industry.
