The Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, highlighted the importance of culture, creativity and positive energy in fostering unity and strengthening Ghana’s national identity at the Ministry’s annual Carols Service, held as part of its Christmas activities.

She commended the individuals and creative teams whose efforts made the event a success, describing the production as emotionally powerful and a strong showcase of Ghana’s creative talent.

Gomashie also praised the Executive Director of the National Theatre, Henry Herbert Malm, for his impactful and transformative leadership in revitalising the institution within a short time.

Reflecting on the performances, the minister noted that creativity allows familiar stories, including biblical narratives, to be reimagined in engaging ways that encourage reflection, humour, and deeper understanding while remaining rooted in tradition.

She encouraged audiences to embrace positivity, learn from the past, and move forward with purpose.

Describing the Carols Service as a cherished annual tradition, she said it provides space for reflection, celebration, and unity as Christians prepare for Christmas.

She added that the theme, “Light of the World: A Cultural and Creative Christmas Experience,” aligns strongly with the Ministry’s mandate.

Gomashie further explained that Christmas is both a historical and symbolic occasion that promotes hope, compassion, and redemption, and forms an important part of Ghana’s cultural heritage.

She concluded by stressing that culture and creativity are powerful forces that illuminate Ghana’s identity, enhance its global image, and contribute to economic growth.

The event featured performances by the Lapaz Community Choir, Holy Family Choir (Mataheko), soloists Josephine Boso and Kokui Serlormey, Rev Antonio of the Centre for National Culture and the National Theatre’s resident group through drama and dance.

The service was attended by the Ministry’s Chief Director, Directors of the Ministry, Board Members, Heads of Agencies, Staff, Traditional leaders, Sector partners, performers and other distinguished guests.
