Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empowering Ghana’s creative and beauty industries, describing them as “strategic economic drivers” essential for national transformation.

Speaking at the 9th Ghana Beauty Awards (GBA) organized by Make-Up Ghana, Gomashie praised the event as a credible platform that continues to celebrate excellence, innovation, and resilience within Ghana’s beauty, fashion and wellness sectors.

She extended greetings from President John Dramani Mahama, emphasizing that his administration remains committed to strengthening the creative and tourism ecosystem.

“The creative and tourism sectors remain vital engines for national renewal and progress,” she said. “The fact that I’m Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts reflect our belief in the sector’s power to drive change.”

The minister commended the event’s theme, “Thrive,” as a call for resilience and growth, urging beauty professionals to build ethical, sustainable, and globally competitive brands that embody Ghanaian creativity.

She cited the global beauty industry’s worth of over $700 billion, highlighting its role as a source of “livelihood, dignity, and empowerment for thousands of young people.”

Gomashie also reaffirmed her Ministry’s dedication to the Black Star Experience strategic framework, designed to position Ghana as a leading African lifestyle and cultural destination.

“It is not an event; it is a lifestyle, a change of mind, and an acceptance of who we are as Africans,” she said.

Also addressing the ceremony, George Opare Addo, Minister of Youth Development and Empowerment, called for stronger public-private collaboration to bridge the gap between raw talent and real opportunity.

He noted that Ghana’s creative economy contributes significantly to GDP and holds vast export potential.

The 2025 Ghana Beauty Awards, held at the Labadi Beach Hotel, celebrated excellence across makeup artistry, skincare, hair, fashion, education and innovation.

The event, powered by Labadi Beach Hotel, Feel Naturals, Marie Noelle Spa & Salon and other partners, featured musical and comedy performances alongside Lifetime Achievement Awards.

Top winners received prizes including an all-expense-paid trip to Barbados and the 2026 GRAMMYs, underscoring the event’s growing international recognition.

The Ghana Beauty Awards continues to serve as a catalyst for professionalism and innovation in Ghana’s beauty and creative industries, reinforcing the nation’s position as a creative powerhouse in Africa.
