The Abbossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association has reaffirmed its commitment to renewed collaboration with the Ghana Union of Traders’ Associations (GUTA) following a reconciliation meeting held on January 9, 2026.

In a statement issued after the meeting, the Association said the engagement with GUTA was “highly productive and forward-looking,” and marked a renewed partnership anchored on mutual respect, open dialogue and a shared commitment to strengthening Ghana’s trading environment.

The Association recalled that on December 15, 2025, it issued a public statement expressing concerns that led to a temporary disengagement from certain GUTA activities.

According to the Association, the concerns stemmed from communication gaps and the non-recognition of its executive leadership during the inauguration of the newly elected GUTA President.

However, subsequent engagements between the leadership of both organizations have helped to resolve the outstanding issues. The Association said the discussions were conducted in the spirit of reconciliation, unity and cooperation, resulting in a renewed commitment to improved communication, stronger collaboration and lasting cohesion.

The Association also expressed appreciation to the Councils of Elders from both organizations, describing their intervention as instrumental in restoring peace, understanding and consensus throughout the process.

Speaking on behalf of the Association, Chairman Henry Okyere Jnr congratulated the newly elected GUTA President on his successful assumption of office. He expressed confidence in the President’s leadership and called for unity and teamwork among all trader groups under the GUTA umbrella.

“The challenges facing traders today require cooperation rather than division. We must work together as one team, share ideas and support one another in order to protect our businesses, stabilize markets, and contribute meaningfully to national development,” the Chairman said.
