Ghanaian Disc Jockey (DJ), Kwaku Slim, also known as DJ Slim, has expressed his disappointment with President Akufo-Addo over the construction of a statue.

The president unveiled a statue of himself at the entrance of the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital in the Western Region.

The development, however, led to backlash on social media by many Ghanaians who deemed it unnecessary.

In a video from his podcast posted on November 7, 2024, DJ Slim argued that such trophies should be reserved for achievers and not contenders.

“Just because you can run the race doesn’t mean you deserve a trophy. A statue is for achievers, not for contenders. As an old man that you are, you went to make a statue for yourself as if you have achieved something, meanwhile, we all know you’ve not achieved anything,” he said.

He also stated that such antics would negatively affect Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who is aiming to be the next president of Ghana.

According to him, Akufo-Addo is making Bawumia’s job of winning voters on his side more difficult.

“Bawumia should be able to speak up. He just wants to make his job difficult. He keeps making the Bawumia campaign harder and more difficult by the day.

“Bawumia is really suffering. These developmental structures they are talking about have not been completed. When you’re not done with the race, you’re not supposed to think of a medal,” he lamented.
