Hilda Ama Braso, Ghanaian actress, producer, and screenwriter Hilda Ama Braso, Ghanaian actress, producer, and screenwriter

Hilda Ama Braso, a talented Ghanaian actress, producer, and screenwriter, has rapidly made her mark in African cinema. Known for her creativity and vision, she has risen to prominence in both the Ghanaian (Ghallywood) and Nigerian (Nollywood) film industries, showcasing her dedication to storytelling and her passion for film.

    Background and Early Life

Hilda was born and raised in a family of five girls. Her educational journey began in Kumasi at New Life International School, after which she attended St. Louis Senior High School.

Later, she enrolled at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, where she studied for two years before deferring to pursue an aviation career. After completing aviation school, she earned certifications in customer service and passenger handling.

    A Childhood Dream Come True

Acting has been Hilda’s dream since childhood, and she first qualified at an audition at age 12. Though her mother initially discouraged her from pursuing acting, Hilda remained patient and pursued other interests, confident her mother would eventually support her passion. When her mother later embraced Hilda’s career choice, she fully committed to making her dream a reality.

From Acting to Producing: A Multifaceted Career

Since 2018, Hilda has worked alongside celebrated filmmakers such as Shirley Frimpong Manso and Ivan Quashigah and starred in multiple TV shows currently airing on DStv. As an actress, she has received nominations for prestigious awards, including Best Actress in a Supporting Role, and Most Promising Actor, and was named Personality of the Year in 2022.

In addition to acting, Hilda has become an accomplished writer and producer. In her free time, she crafts original scripts, producing seven short films available on YouTube. Her debut feature film, Stuck32hrs, premiered in June 2024 to enthusiastic reviews and an unexpectedly large audience.

This success was amplified when Stuck32hrs was selected as one of only five films screened at the African Cinema Summit, hosted by *Idris Elba*, where it received outstanding feedback from critics and audiences alike.

    Brand Ambassador and Influence

Hilda’s influence extends beyond cinema, as she collaborates with several brands as a brand influencer and serves as a brand ambassador for one of Ghana’s largest hair companies, embodying her values of beauty, resilience, and creativity.

    Looking Ahead

With her talents and achievements, Hilda Ama Braso is positioned for a bright future in African cinema. Her work bridges Ghanaian and Nigerian film, bringing a unique perspective and enriching African storytelling. Audiences can follow her inspiring journey on social media and streaming platforms as she continues to shape the future of African cinema.
