Musician-turned-politician Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A-Plus, has urged stakeholders in Ghana’s entertainment industry to pay serious attention to the insights of Reggae/Dancehall star Shatta Wale.

The newly elected Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central made these remarks in response to questions about his plans for advancing the creative arts sector upon assuming his role in the 9th Parliament.

A-Plus clarified that his primary focus in Parliament would be to serve his constituents, dismissing expectations that he would act as a representative or advocate for the creative industry.

“No creative industry person or group put me in Parliament,” he stated emphatically.

“When I was contesting, there wasn’t any word of support from the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), the Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG), or any creative group to rally support for me.

It was just a few of my friends in the industry who solidly stood by me throughout. So nobody should tell me I’m representing the creative industry

. I’m going to Parliament to serve the interest of the people of Gomoa Central.

While distancing himself from responsibilities toward the creative sector, A-Plus highlighted Shatta Wale’s significant contribution to industry discussions, describing the Dancehall artist as a voice worth listening to.

“They should go and listen to what he says. I know it will help them,” A-Plus remarked.

“Shatta Wale has been talking too much sense,” he added, encouraging industry players to take Shatta Wale’s statements more seriously.
