Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, believes this is the first time Ghana has had a government that is focused on governance rather than partisan politics.

According to him, the majority in Parliament has the numbers to pass decisions without the minority’s support. However, they choose to overlook certain matters to ensure the governance process runs smoothly.

A Plus attributes this approach to the president’s vision, which prioritizes inclusivity in efforts to improve Ghana.

He believes this marks a significant reset in Ghana’s political landscape something that was not seen under the previous administration.

“This is the first time we have a group of people who want to govern rather than engage in partisan politics. Everyone expected the majority to assert their power, but strength isn’t always about fighting. The majority is ready to govern, and that is what we are witnessing. They are working towards a reset, which is why they let certain things slide. It’s not just about the majority; it’s about the president’s vision. Usually, after elections, the IGP, CDS, and other officials are removed, but that hasn’t happened this time,” he stated on United Showbiz on UTV.

A Plus further stated that this reset should have begun under Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, as it would have placed Ghana in a better position by now.

However, he argued that the former president instead engaged in partisan politics, which negatively impacted governance.

“I thought the reset would have started with Nana Akufo-Addo, but instead, he worsened the situation by removing the EC boss and the Auditor-General. Traditionally, these changes were mostly within the security sector, but Akufo-Addo extended them to the EC and Auditor-General. Based on that, some may expect John Mahama to remove the Chief Justice. However, we need to understand that this shouldn’t be the norm. If the IGP and others are performing well, they should remain in office based on merit, not just because a new government has taken over.

“When you look at Parliament, it’s not that the majority is weak, it’s that they are deliberately working to reset the system,” he explained.
