    Legendary Senegalese footballer, Sadio Mané has said that he wants to be recognized as a great human being who supported others to succeed, rather than solely for his football legacy.

    According to him, although he has enjoyed a remarkable footballing career, his legacy should be defined by his humanity especially his contributions toward helping others.

    Speaking in an interview with the BBC, Mané emphasised that his human values are more important to him than his football achievements.

    “First of all, I don’t want to be recognized after my career only as a great football player. I want to be recognized as a great person.”

    “For me, this is the most important thing. Of course, I have been known as a football player, but I still want to be known as a human being because, for me, there are many things more important than football,” he said.

    The Al Nassr forward’s brilliant performances earned him the overall best player award at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations hosted in Morocco.

    The legendary footballer netted two goals and provided 3 assists in seven games to help his country win the tournament.
