Ghanaian musician Agbeko, best known for his hit single “Wototome,” has shared an emotional and deeply personal story about how a romantic relationship drew him into drug addiction and almost destroyed his music career.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on Hitz FM, Agbeko recounted how his struggles began after meeting a young woman following a performance on Osu Oxford Street.

What began as a casual friendship soon evolved into a relationship that introduced him to substance abuse.

“I met a female friend after performing at a show at Oxford Street. She later became my girlfriend, and she was the one who introduced me to drugs,” he revealed.

According to the musician, his girlfriend, who had returned to Ghana from the UK, had already been battling addiction before their relationship began.

“She wasn’t from here; she lived in the UK, but her father brought her back because of her addiction. Unfortunately, instead of her changing, I also got hooked,” Agbeko confessed.

The singer described how his life soon spiraled out of control — losing his focus, friends, and grip on his music career.

“There were times I couldn’t even remember my own lyrics. I lost focus, friends, and everything I had worked for,” he said emotionally.

At the lowest point of his struggle, Agbeko revealed that he was forced to sell clothes on the streets just to survive. “I had nothing left. I had to do whatever I could to make ends meet,” he recounted.

Now on the path to recovery, Agbeko expressed gratitude for a second chance at life and music. He said he hopes that sharing his story will inspire and caution others facing similar challenges.

“I thank God I’m alive today. If my story can save even one person from going down the same path, then it’s worth telling,” he said.
